I was 11 years old in 1981 when these busses came out, to ring the bell you pushed those long plastic strips between the windows, the funny thing is that these days the busses have reverted back to the old technology of the pull cord bell. The year before these busses came out the miami dade bus system had a horribly old fleet and the air in alot of them did not work anymore. its wierd i randomly saw this video because ive been thinking about these busses on and off since 1981 because I ride the bus alot still at 54 years old. Thanks for posting this video, great memories.
Miami had RTSes just ONE year before NYC started with theirs in 1981, but NYC ran their GMC RTSs little longer than Miami did.
Can somebody try to film a ride vid of the 2016 XDE60’s, I mean it’s only some of the 2017’s, and plus it’s more 2016’s
This was 0904 wasn’t it😭
It would be nice if these coaches are still running as of 2023.
The scheme bus colors is what I’m missing the most :( like why did they change the scheme of the buses
Welcome back John! I hope you make more videos soon!
Got a chance to ride 22102 on the 16 fast bus
I'm trying to look for their Bus Number in the Bus Tracker but I kept seeing TBD
Some track and the rest don't but if you go on the transee site you'll see some of them on their
HEY IS THIS RT ON 17 CAUSE I TAKE MY CHILD TO SCHOOL HE GOES TO NORLAND MIDDLE I GO TO 183 ST AND 7 AVE EVERYDAY
@@john2011jb dude and the seating arrangement is too close and narrow to each other since the flxibles and Rts in the 80s and 90s
@LAQUITA WRIGHT it varies so it will eventually make a run on it but you'll see them on routes 3 9 93 10 77 277
@@KELLY6143MDT is that near norland high school
Great Video
They bought 260 of them in one order around 1980. They were the first leaning buses they had. I drove them 40 years ago. Eventually a few of them made their way to the Miami Dade police department and was retrofitted to be mobil command posts.
What route is that?

@@john2011jb oh thx
And I love the sound btw
NABI started to get better with this model bus. The BRT 42 LF model was very neat looking minus the door issue with them.
Use to see this bus all the time now can't really find it since it's at Coral Way Division now
I saw this bus on the 72 route yesterday
If only NABI were still in business, they would make more buses
We gotta link up when I do route
Jaquel Brownlee we do I’m trying to get in with MDT since they hiring but man Broward caught me off guard since they hiring as well
I’m not sure how MDT. Works but broward doing me good plus I started full time with benefits apply for both don’t you your cdls
@Jaquel Brownlee yea I got them just been very busy if I’m not mistaken I see you went back to the hound…hope they are coming back to Golden Glades Intermodal Terminal. Since they reopened the bus terminal and built a nicer and safer location for greyhound as well
Now as of Friday July 31st you’ll see some Miami Beach Trolley vehicles serving the L that route will have both the regular buses and trolley
Very nice, rare, and lucky you got onboard an MCI on Route 150
0:51 That Sounds Like A School Bus
This route is now replaced by NABI 60-BRT and Gillig CNG buses. As well as New Flyer Articulated Arctics from time to time.
That's my Nabi bus , I miss them especially with Detroit series 50

Those model NABI buses are very neat looking.
I’ve notice a lot of the 2005 NABI 40LFW are running out of Central again I’ve seen them 79 MAX,L,S,120 don’t these buses usually have the 2010 new flyer 60ft buses and the CNG buses 2018-2019 models
Lazaro Lopez yes they do most of those Artics developed issues so they moved some buses back to Central to fill in as temporary replacements
Ahh ok even though like those new buses and the 2005 NABI I missed them when they ran often before these buses
@@john2011jb I think central might start retiring there 9500s artics soon I know probably by next year certainly they'll start retiring them
79 MAX on a nabi 40LFW? Never seen that .
Great video. I'll be checking theses new buses out starting on January the 2nd.
Are these gonna replace the remaining nabis on the 38?
Yeah, only 1999-2004 models
Any bus built between 1999 and 2006. Remember lots of artics also run on the 38 so they'll be sharing the route. So on rush hour you can see anything from a 1999 to a 2019 or 2020 bus running there. Eventually sooner or later the older buses will start disappearing not just from the 38 but from most routes.
Marcos .A .R Oh well that’s a change from the usual nabis I guess. I sure do like the old nabi busses, but riding them from florida city to dadeland south for an hour and a half with a half working A/C really isn’t pleasant or comfortable or fun at all. Hopefully these busses don’t get neglected like the current state of the trashed XDE60’s, really shocks me to see how worn down those busses are after only three years!
@@drshrimp.puertorico Early Sunday morning I saw a 20 year difference on the same route. Both 9986 and 19150 were on the 38. If somebody would have told me a few years back that some 9900's and 2000's series would have made it to 2020 in regular active service on the Miami streets, working seven days a week on long routes, I would have thought they were nuts. Good quality buses. I'm sure going to miss them. I don't think any bus built these days will last that long.
Yes some will be sent over to the city (NE) once they add a Temp CNG pump over at that garage you will see more Xcelisor buses head over down south and they will get some if not all of the current CNG Gilligs but info on this can change at moments notice
Is this an piggyback order from Orlando Lynx's options
Yea our Gilligs diesels and Hybrids have the same exact seats as y’all buses in San Francisco
I'm surprised that the chair in the buses in your place look exactly the same as ours in San Francisco.
The copied the seats from the Washington DC metrorail
What do you mean
What was the bus number
Such a decent looking bus. It's a shame NABI got acquired by New Flyer
This interior looks almost exactly like Chicago's artics
9926
Why does it flash the operators ID number on the screen?
RedLight GreenArrow aides in allowing the passenger to accurately complaints, commendation or pinpoint the exact issue wrong with the bus while its in service etc unfortunately
